Here he is in the courtyard just as we arrived.

This shot is way blurry (I thought they might not appreciate me and my flash here, so I did my best) but I wanted to add it because of the great color. The bottom floor is an installation of a Richard Serra piece (rather two of them) called Band and Sequence. You can see some pix of the installation here that give an idea of the size (there is a tiny guy right in the middle) and color. They are both huge mazes of sort which you can walk around in. Like walking through an indoor slit canyon. Very cool and I think my favorite part of the visit.
T after we left the room with the Richard Serra. Obviously his mind has been blown.

We did a quick tour of the other two floors which was fun, for me anyway if not for Mr. Antsy-pants. There was a huge room of Cindy Sherman prints laid our like a 19th century gallery. Huge prints jammed (not quite jammed but close) on the walls floor to ceiling and a case of her film stills (which I prefer). I'd seen some of the newer work at MOCA right after I moved to LA. Otherwise my trip was too fast to really soak it in, so I'll need to go back. On the way out we stopped by Chris Burden's Urban LIght which has been extensively publicized with the opening. I'd like to see it at night but god knows I don't venture out after dark anymore. Here's some more info. The link goes to a page with several other other tibits as well, follow the link to "outdoor art" and the Chris Burden info is #3.

And that was it. We headed down the street to the main building to have a bite where T reflected on all he'd seen.
